Don’t let Melissa’s love of knitting, cooking and gardening fool you. She is a super bright, tech savvy young lady who aspires to one day be a computer forensics expert! Black Mountain Software’s clients couldn’t be in better hands when calling in and speaking with Melissa for technical support; and as a bonus, they might get a few expert cooking tips as well! Having lived in Spokane, Washington, for ten years and earning her college degrees there, Melissa had mainly worked in food service until she accepted the position with Black Mountain Software. Melissa believes her food skills and passion will always serve her well, but she says she’s really excited to have landed her first “real” career at Black Mountain Software where she is thoroughly enjoying being immersed in a world of computers, software, and technical problem solving.

Small Town Story:

A wintertime car accident is ultimately responsible for Melissa becoming a small-town Montana resident.  She explains: “Several winters ago, my mom and cousin spun off the road and flipped our car into a snow bank while driving through Montana on a return trip home to New Mexico from Seattle. My mother couldn’t believe that people stopped to help them so quickly and with genuine care. It made such an impression on my mom that the next fall,  my family moved here because of the kind Montana people. I followed in 2012, and I can’t imagine ever leaving.”

Community Service:

  • Montana Co-op: Member and volunteer, helping connect farmers and ranchers (and artists, too!) with local people. Melissa hopes to help the co-op establish a healthy food restaurant in Polson in the near future.
