It’s the season of change and while we often don’t think twice before changing out our sandals for boots, or sunglasses for gloves, we don’t often think about changing up our in-office routine for something a bit more festive.
The proof is in the pudding (or at least, in your coffee cup)! Think about it…how often do you make a run for that same pot of office coffee without even thinking about sprucing up your caffeine routine for something a little tastier?
So, if your tongue is begging for a seasonal update to that black cup of Joe, consider these fall alternatives to your drip coffee—no trip to Starbucks for a Pumpkin Spice Latte required!
Fall-inspired Drink Alternatives to Drip Coffee
- Apple Cider
With notes of cinnamon and cloves, served hot to warm you up on a cold fall day, apple cider is a great way to update your drip coffee. Easy to make with pour and stir packets, it’s a delicious change up for fall. Plus, apples can be more effective in waking you up than coffee because the vitamins are released slowly, making you feel more awake throughout the day.
- Pumpkin Spice Drip
Take your drip coffee to the next level by adding a little pumpkin spice flavoring to it. There are several ways to do this: by using pumpkin spice-flavored creamer (available seasonally at many grocery stores), by adding a dash of clove, nutmeg, allspice and/or cinnamon directly to your coffee, or–our favorite–by spooning a dollop of homemade pumpkin spice whipped cream atop your coffee.
- Chai Tea
Spicy and earthy, chai tea is a great alternative to coffee in the fall. Still laced with caffeine and warm on the tongue, you can drink it plain or add a dash of Almond Milk to it for a nice flavor update.
- Pumpkin Spice or Caramel Hot Chocolate
If you are yearning to ease up on the caffeine but are still craving something warm, try a little chocolate milk with some Pumpkin Spice or Caramel syrup (available at most specialty grocers and coffee shops). Add a little—or a lot—of syrup and play with different milks, from half and half to almond or coconut.
- Cinnamon Apple Infused Water
For a really healthy fall go-to and a great alternative to coffee, sweetened drinks and caffeinated drinks, try an apple-infused cinnamon water. Just add cut apples, pears and even plums to a large bottle of water with a single cinnamon stick for a fresh update to oh-so-good-for-you water.
With these festive coffee-alternatives, your desk will be infused with the flavors and smells of fall.
