Bob Nice

Senior Software Engineer

Every day is a new opportunity. You can build on yesterday’s success or put its failures behind and start over again.

  — Bob Feller’s analogy of baseball and life

Before Bob joined Black Mountain Software in 2001, he enjoyed visiting as well as studying and living within other cultures, largely due to more than 10 years in various roles within the hospitality management industry. He then acquired a technology degree and changed career paths. That path lead Bob back to his home state of Montana and his current role as a software programmer and technology guru for Black Mountain Software, where he works hard every day to meet the technology needs of staff and customers. Clients’ IT managers enjoy working with him, and BMS staff is really happy that Bob doesn’t seem to mind that he is on nearly every employee’s speed dial or ICE-T (In Case of Emergency with Technology) list.

Software and apps aren’t the only tools Bob knows a lot about; his personal life focuses on family and his perpetual do-it-yourself home building project.

Small Town Story

Bob was born and raised in Western Montana, and figures he “was like all high school aged youth” in his desire to leave his hometown after graduating from high school. “I wanted nothing more than to learn and experience the world outside of Montana,” he recalls, “but after spending many years in many different locations, I realized what a fantastic place this valley where I grew up is. Despite the surety of the youthful version of himself that he needed to live anywhere BUT Montana, Bob is happily raising his family and working just a short distance from his small hometown of Bigfork, MT.
