Donna Steele

Installation Lead

Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.

– Mother Teresa

Back in the fall of 1991, Donna drove the US High Line – east coast to west coast – which included a stop to visit friends in Kalispell, Montana. She returned to Montana in 1992 on a one-week volunteer stint teaching kayaking for a youth program. She ended up being offered a job as a river guide in Glacier Park, and Montana has been “home” to her ever since. Donna has always been fascinated by numbers and developed an appreciation of marrying numbers with technology when she worked as a bookkeeper for the City of Kent, OH Health Department at the time the city received their first computer. “I fell in love with that Apple,” says Donna. Tackling whitewater was a weekend pastime for her grown up along the Youghiogheny River in Pennsylvania, but Donna has since spent three decades tackling work as a bookkeeper or staff accountant in non-profit, private industry or public accounting.

Small Town Story

This Pittsburg area native can top many dyed in the wool Montanans in her absolute love of outdoor activities, wide open spaces, ranch animals and wildlife. She’s not sure whether her passion for horses and rodeos preceded her children being rodeo circuit zealots or if her children’s involvement is the reason she loves horses and rodeos so much. When asked if she would rather do light household chores or outdoor manual labor, Donna replies without a moment’s hesitation, “I’ll choose hauling hay over doing the dishes any day!”

Community Service

  • Community Youth Projects: Throughout the years, Donna and her husband have enthusiastically supported youth projects that make a difference in the lives of local children in need. This has ranged from holiday gift programs and after-school care programs to back-to-school supplies and backpack projects.

  • Studied secretarial skills and bookkeeping at Durbin’s Business School, PA
