Workplace Transition: How to greet a new employee, be a new employee, and deal with change

Autumn is the season of change.  Coincidentally, it is also the time for elections, which for many elected officials means change within the workplace. If you are new to a position within the office, or if your office is awaiting a new employee, there are a variety of ways you can address the change so that the transition is as seamless as possible.

If you are the new person:

  • Get plenty of rest.  You will need to be well-rested so you are at the top of your game during the first transitional weeks.

    Global business leaders are predominantly male. Males make up the majority of politicians, too. And of the 500 Fortune 500 companies, only 17 percent of those board seats are held by women.

    The number of college-educated women in America far surpasses the number of men with degrees, but it seems the world of business and politics are still dominated by the good old boys’ club. It seems like women, who are often underrepresented in council meetings, board meetings, and meetings of elected officials, maybe don’t have as much say as you’d think regarding decisions about the cities they live in, schools they send their children to, and policies that affect women.     City Clerk Salary: How Much Money Does a City Clerk Make?

    How Much Money Does a City Clerk Make (City Clerk Salary Infographic)Last month, we asked our blog readers and members of our LinkedIn Group, The City Clerk Cafe, to participate in a city clerk salary survey to find out how much city clerks get paid. We wanted to paint an accurate picture of how much money a city clerk employee actually makes. We asked our over 700 Clerk Café members to participate, and that’s exactly what they did!

    What we found was very interesting!

    What didn’t surprise us:

    • City clerks have girl power. Of those who responded, 80 percent were female.  Despite a world where gender roles are changing, it seems the role of the city clerk employee still mostly belongs to the women.
